## What a model comp card is

A model comp card, also called a composite card or Zed card, is the leave-behind a model or agency hands a client, casting director, or photographer. One side leads with a single photograph and the model's name. The other side shows a few more pictures and the measurements a booker checks before a casting. It is shorter than a portfolio. It still has to read at arm's length, and it has to survive a print shop's trim.

## What to put on a model comp card

Use four or five photos. Put the clearest headshot or three-quarter on the front. Use the back for a full-length, a profile, and one more look so the card shows face and proportion, not five crops of the same frame. Skip group shots and borders baked into the file. This layout runs the photo to the edge.

Stats are height, bust or chest, waist, hips, shoe, dress or suit, hair, and eyes. Leave a line blank if it does not apply. Empty lines are left off the card. A suit size can go in Dress / suit (40R) or on an optional line labeled Suit. The contact line is for an agency, a booker, or a phone number. Two extra lines cover a social handle or anything else a client expects in your market.

Type measurements the way your market reads them, such as 5'11" or 180 cm. The card prints what you type.

## Comp card size: 5.5 × 8.5 in with bleed

This file is a US half-letter comp card. The trim size, the finished card after the cut, is 5.5 × 8.5 inches. Bleed is 0.125 inch on every side, so each PDF page is 5.75 × 8.75 inches. Photos that touch the edge of the layout extend through that bleed, which keeps a white hairline from showing if the cut is slightly off. Crop marks sit in the bleed, outside the trim, and do not cross into the design. Type stays at least 0.3 inch inside the trim.

The preview on the page shows the trimmed card. The download is the print file: two pages, a trim box of 5.5 × 8.5 inches, and crop marks in the bleed.

## How to send the PDF to a printer

Send the PDF, not a screenshot. Ask for a 5.5 × 8.5 inch card, full color, both sides, on cover stock. 100 lb cover or 14 pt is a common weight for a comp card. Tell the shop the trim is 5.5 × 8.5 inches, the bleed is 0.125 inch, and crop marks are already in the file. The PDF is RGB, which most digital printers accept. Ask if they need a CMYK conversion.

To check it at home, print at 100% scale on letter paper. Do not choose "fit to page." Cut on the crop marks. The card will not fill a letter sheet, and that is the right result for a 5.5 × 8.5 inch trim.

## Questions

**Do my photos get uploaded?**
No. The card is built in your browser. Photos and measurements stay on this device and are not sent to FlowboardPro or stored on an account.

**How many photos does a model comp card use?**
Four or five. The first photo is the front. The other three or four go on the back. Drag them, or use the up and down buttons, to change which photo leads.

**What size PDF will I download?**
A two-page PDF. Each page is 5.75 × 8.75 inches, which is the 5.5 × 8.5 inch trim plus 0.125 inch bleed. The trim box is set to 5.5 × 8.5 inches, the finished US half-letter comp card.

**Can I leave stats blank?**
Yes. Blank measurements are omitted. A card with only height, hair, and eyes prints those three and nothing else.

**How do I get this printed?**
Send the PDF to a print shop and ask for a 5.5 × 8.5 inch card, both sides, with 0.125 inch bleed. For a quick check, print at 100% on letter paper and cut on the crop marks.
